No matter your background, being fairly rewarded for your work is what everyone expects.
But right now, there's a class ceiling that's stopping people from lower socioeconomic backgrounds reaping these rewards. It's limiting their ambitions and hitting them in the pocket.
When people from working class backgrounds successfully enter professional occupations, they are paid over £6,000 less per year than their more privileged peers – effectively working 1 in 8 days for free. This is holding both brilliant people and the UK economy back.
