Welcome to our first ever Youth Panel!

Meet our very first Youth Advisory Panel!

Our panel will tell us about the issues that matter to them and use their experiences of navigating education, university, and employment to bring about change for their peers and help their communities to thrive.

Emily

Hi! I’m Emily (she/her), an English Lit student in my final year studying at the Uni of York. I am extremely passionate about affording equal opportunities in education and supporting students in the transition to university. I love reading (I know- what a shock haha), spending time with my friends and discovering new music/ going to concerts!

Myat

Hi, I’m Myat and I’m a final-year Management student at the University of Warwick. I was born in Myanmar but have grown up in London since I was five. In my spare time, I love going to the gym, practicing yoga and meditation, and planning my next budget-travel adventure!

Aisha

Hello I’m Aisha! I'm super into all things creative, especially crocheting and knitting. I also am a big fan of giving back to the community so I love to take part in charity events like  the Innocent Big Knit as well as litter picking at school. Right now, I’m just trying to survive my A-Levels and make it to the summer holidays, where I can finally relax!

Hannah

My name is Hannah and I currently work in Sales within the media industry. I’m passionate about social mobility and believe that where you start in life shouldn’t determine where you end up. I started my career in digital marketing and audience analytics within the music industry. I also landed this role through the SMF which I was really excited about. Over time, I found myself drawn to problem-solving and big-picture thinking, which led me into management consulting. Now, I work in content sales at BBC Studios where I sell shows across to different broadcasters all over the world. Outside of work, I enjoy long-distance running, hikes and musical theatre'.

Salma

Hi! I'm Salma, I'm a first year currently studying law at Oxford. When I'm not reading criminal law cases or trying to understand the Roman law of contract (yes, we have to study law from 210CE...yikes!) you will probably find me slide-tackling in the mud for the New College football team, cafe-hopping or frequenting Waterstones to add yet another book to my collection. I'm super excited to get started, meet lots of new people, and hopefully be of some support for brilliant students who just need a little boost.

Abigail

Hi, I’m Abigail (or Abbie—either works!). I live in Bristol and work in Higher Education regulation at the Office for Students. I'm really excited to be on the Youth Advisory Panel, especially since I was part of the APP City programme as a sixth-form student myself.I’m passionate about helping young people access higher education and recently started volunteering as a strategist for a North London charity that connects alumni with students to inspire the students through their stories.Outside of work, I’m always listening to something—whether it’s a podcast, music, or an audiobook. I love staying active too, so you’ll often find me at a spin class or rollerskating!

Montasir

I’m Montasir, a first-year Technology Consulting Degree Apprentice, and I’m excited to be part of the team! I have a strong interest in finance, consulting and entrepreneurship and I’m always looking to develop new skills in these areas. Outside of work, I love sports - I enjoy playing most bat-and-ball sports, with my main ones being cricket, table tennis and badminton.  I’m also a big Formula 1 fan and enjoy keeping up with the latest races. Traveling and exploring new places and cultures is another passion of mine - I’m always looking for my next adventure! I’m always up for a great discussion about business and investing, politics, or even just discovering amazing food spots.

Mo

I’m Mo, an Experimental Psychology at the University of Oxford, born and raised in Manchester. I have a passion for research and hope to pursue an early-career in academia. Outside of my studies, I love traveling, going on hikes, and playing badminton with friends.

Emilia

Hi everyone, I’m Emilia. I’m 20 years old and I’m a first year dental student at the University of Dundee, originally from Glasgow. I love staying active, and doing fun activities with friends - recent ventures include innoflate, and swimming. I love learning new things, especially knowledge that I can use to help others. I am an advocate for increasing social mobility and reducing socioeconomic and health inequalities. I love using my own experiences to help others on both an individual basis, and would love more opportunities to do this, as well as make changes on a larger, policy-shaping scale. I hope from the buddying programme I can learn more about what actions are required to make effective changes and meet the goals of the SMF, and hopefully I can help in applying these as part of the youth advisory panel.

Ella

My name is Ella, and I am a first-year law student from Northern Ireland, currently studying at Durham University. In 2023, when I was accepted onto the Aspiring Professionals Programme. Since then, I have been thrilled to experience an Employer Insight Scheme, participate in the Young Women’s Series and now be a member of the Youth Advisory Panel. Outside of academics, I’m part of various societies (such as Discussion and Debate and the Pub Quiz Society). I also love reading, playing tennis and swimming.
